               Marcel Camus’ Black Orpheus (Orfeu negro)

Marcel Camus combines Greek Mythology and the hysteria of modern day Carnaval to retell the legend of Orpheus and Euyrice. The film is based on the play Orfeu da Conceição by Vinicius de Moraes. The soundtrack by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Bonfá, is reportedly responsible for the introduction of Bossa Nova in America.
